I’ve had a pretty crappy turn of events since yesterday - Four laptops and my Nikon D200 were stolen from my house.
It’s not that I have a fetish for collecting laptops.
I’ve just always chosen to buy a new laptop when the time came that the old one no longer had room for my thoughts, letters, music, pictures, art, and life.
And that’s what I feel has really been stolen - my life. About a decade’s worth of my life has vanished. Just under 33%.
I’m a compulsive gatherer. I never throw anything out. This really hurts.
Looking past the shock and grief and trying to think “operationally” this is also a major setback. Especially now that I have two exhibitions coming up and no clue as to what backups are out there and where.
Without my camera, my image galleries, my sketches and my notes creating new prints will be harder than ever before.
Wish me luck…
I’m trying to be optimistic.
Mike
I’m trying very hard to see this as an opportunity for renewal and house cleaning but it ain’t easy. I do however choose to see this event as confirmation that it is time to make a change and dedicate myself to art more.
